January is always a time for reflection. As the Children’s Sunday School team met to reflect on the previous semester, it became clear that we were all on the same page with one thing…the new Sunday School curriculum is NOT working. It was supposed to dig into one book at a time…which it did. But it was not an exhaustive study into that one book. It switches books every month regardless of which book it is, and spending only one month in books like Genesis, Hebrews, and Acts just doesn’t cut it. The kids need a chronological study into the bible…something that they can build on in their memory. Explore the Bible simply is not providing that well enough. It does, however, include great bible skills and life application. So…we are going to switch back to Gospel project in the mornings (adding in the bible study skills that it seems to be missing ourselves) and attempt to use Explore the Bible for our Sunday evening curriculum. Also, Jeremy and I are looking at curriculum options together that we might be able to use across the board in Children and Youth…so understand that this might not be the last change up in curriculum. The change will take place on February 11th. I’m sorry for all of the changes, but we want to do what we believe is best for our children.
In Christ,
Stephenie
