Stitchin' for Angels
A Service Ministry of Oak Crest Baptist Church

Our Story

Stitchin' for Angels began in March 1999 because of a burden to help children cancer patients by supplying them with hats when they undergo chemotherapy treatment.  We also wanted to help area hospitals with needs for premature and seriously ill infants in the neo-natal units.  The ministry expanded quickly and we were soon able to include many other types of items that hospital personnel requested because of needs for their patients.  These items would even help needy parents by supplying them with a blanket, hat, booties or clothing for their well babies.

All items come strictly from donations of fabric, yarn, money or the items themselves and go directly to the patients, free of charge.  If you would like to help in any way with this need, please notify the church office.

At present, Stitchin' for Angels prepares about 150 items for delivery every month

Some of the items provided to area hospitals and nursing homes:

FOR PREEMIES, INFANTS & KIDS:
  • Knitted & crocheted
     hats & booties
  • Quilts, afghans and blankets
  • Shirts & gowns
  • Burial layettes

FOR ADULTS:
  • Quilts & afghans
  • Pressure pillows
  • Chemotherapy turbans
  • Organizers to hang on wheelchairs

We would love for you
 to join us!

Stitchin' for Angels meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the church starting at 9:00 am.

We also have non-sewing jobs available like stuffing pillows, tagging the items and preparing them for delivery.

"I have often thought about the saying, ' Man can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the apples in a seed,' We can count the number of quilts, pillows and other items that are made, but only God can count the number of lives that are touched with this ministry."
