Oak Crest Baptist Church exists in covenant community to bring glory to God by living out the gospel of Jesus Christ, passionately sharing His love and growing in His Word. Our greatest desire is to bring glory to God through lives transformed by the powerful gospel of Jesus Christ. Christ is the center of all that we are and all that we do. We believe that the Bible Alone reveals that salvation is by Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, in Christ Alone to the Glory of God Alone. To the this truth we give our lives and our allegiance: Jesus is Lord.
What to Expect
There are many kinds of churches. Every church, like every person, has its own characteristics and identity. What cannot change from church to church is that the identity must be rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ and his Word. At Oak Crest, above anything else we hope you will encounter the living God through his Word and his Spirit. In terms of worship style, we desire above all to bring glory to God in our worship. We feel this is best accomplished with a blended style of worship. We value content above style. We may sing a song from the 16th Century or the 21st Century, what is most important to us is that God is glorified and the truth of the gospel is proclaimed through song. In terms of preaching style, we preach and teach the Bible in an expository manner. That means we allow the Word of God to speak God's agenda to us. In terms of community, we desire true and meaningful covenant devotion to one another. We hope you will feel overwhelming love at Oak Crest in the name and power of Jesus Christ.
Who We Are
Oak Crest Church exists as a covenant body of believers who weekly meet to Glorify and Worship God. We are committed to God-Centered, Christ- Centered, Gospel- Centered worship and discipleship. We hold firmly to the doctrines of the bible as expressed in Reformation Theology. We believe salvation is according to the Word of God alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the Glory of God alone. We hold to the 1689 Second London Confession of Faith.
Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully, enter into this covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We covenant, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk in Christian Love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and compassion; to promote the church’s growth and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to promote consistent, cheerful, biblical tithing for the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We also covenant to maintain family and personal devotions; provide religious education for our families; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk cautiously and wisely in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our commitments, and passionate in our efforts to spread the gospel for the sake of the kingdom of our Savior.
We further covenant to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to express Christian sympathy; to be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation, honoring the teachings of our Savior.
Moreover, we covenant that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another New Testament church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
