"TeamKID-Kids In Discipleship," our exciting summer children's program will be held on Wednesday nights from June 24th- August 19th @ 7pm in the Fellowship Hall. Team kid is for children who are ENTERING kindergarten through children who have COMPLETED 6th grade. We will not have a children's program on Sunday evenings during the summer. I encourage you to continue to attend on Sunday evenings and enjoy worship and bible study as a family. Child care will be provided for nursery and preschool age children (4 and under) on both Sunday and Wednesday evenings.
Our first TeamKID meeting will TONIGHT in the fellowship hall @ OCBC beginning promptly at 7pm. (Yes, this IS the day that we return from Preteen Camp, but we don't want to start our program any later in the summer!)
TeamKID is a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages kids to know Jesus Christ and grow in a relationship with Him. All parts of TeamKID--Bible stories, Scripture memory, life application, missions, and recreation--connect to teach life lessons to kids. TeamKID is designed for children to do more than memorize Scripture. It helps children understand what the verses they memorize mean because all parts of the TeamKID meeting focus on one Bible message. The noncompetitive games, Bible story, memory verse, missions, refreshments, and conclusion all contribute to help children understand and apply God's Word to their lives.
ADOPT-A-GRANDPARENT
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Oak Crest Kids are partnering with the Midlothian Health Care nursing home to "Adopt-a-Grandparent." Every Thursday afternoon throughout the summer, we will take part in fun activities that the nursing home has planned for their residents. During that time, children will partner with their "adopted grandparent" to help them participate in the activity. We will also plan one Sunday evening during the months of June, July, and August to visit our "grandparents." THIS THURSDAY, JUNE 24TH @ 2:00PM, we will go and officially meet and visit with our "Grandparents" at the nursing home. Families with children of ALL AGES are encouraged to participate. Children under 8 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

VBS is going to be so AWESOME this year! Join us in Hometown Nazareth-- let's explore what life was like when Jesus was a kid! You’ll visit unique shops in the Marketplace, play Bible-times games, and listen to true stories about Jesus as told by his mom, Mary! You'll also get to eat yummy foods...just like what Jesus ate! To help out busy families, we will have finger foods available from 5:30-6:00 each night.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: THE GOSPEL PROJECT
This week in The Gospel Project® for Kids, our journey takes us to Jerusalem where the early church was booming with growth. There were two groups of Jews in the first church: Jews who spoke Greek and Jews who spoke Hebrew. The Greek-speaking Jews were from foreign countries, and the Hebrew-speaking Jews had been born in Israel. Tension existed between the two groups. The Greek-speaking Jews complained that their widows were not being cared for properly.
The Old Testament law was clear that God commanded His people to care for the orphans and widows. (See Ex. 22:22; Deut. 10:18.) The early church continued this Jewish custom, but the Greek-speaking Jews claimed their widows were not getting their share of the daily distributions.
The twelve apostles were quick to address the issue. They gathered all the believers together. The apostles explained that God had called them to preaching and teaching. They were not above handling problems among the people, but they wisely led the church to choose seven leaders to oversee such duties.
The church did not choose just anyone to serve; the men were reputable, full of the Spirit, and wise. The chosen seven were Stephen, Philip, Prochorus (PRAHK uh ruhs), Nicanor (nigh KAY nawr), Timon (TIGH mahn), Parmenas (PAHR mih nuhs), and Nicolaus (nik uh LAY uhs). Now the apostles were free to devote themselves to prayer and preaching, and the widows were properly cared for.
Everyone in the church has a role in God’s work. The apostles believed that everyone in the church had an important job to do to serve God's people and help spread the gospel. The seven men who were chosen used their abilities to take care of others. Jesus wants us to serve others so that the message of His death and resurrection can be heard and believed all over the world.
