***VBS will be the 3rd week in July! We are still determining if we will run it Sunday through Thursday (12th-16th) or Monday through Friday (13th-17th)
OCBC Children’s Ministry (Nursery-6th grade) and their families are invited to attend “The Promise” together on May 1st!
· $20 per person, child or adult (We must purchase 15 tickets to qualify for this group rate.)
· Admission is free for children under 3 as long as the child is in a parent’s lap.
· OCBC Children’s Ministry will pay for ½ of admission price for each member child, 3 yrs through 6th grade.
· You must pay for your ticket in the Oak Crest office by March 29th
· Children in Kindergarten-6th grade may attend without a parent. Please make arrangements with Stephenie.
· PLEASE DO NOT LET FINANCES HINDER YOU FROM ATTENDING. Talk with Stephenie about financial assistance.
The Promise in Glen Rose
The Promise is a one-of-a-kind musical production performed annually at the Texas Amphitheater in Glen Rose, Texas. It combines a 150-person cast and crew, live animals, historically accurate costumes, and breath-taking lights, sound and special effects, all of which tell the story of the life of Jesus Christ in modern family-friendly fashion.
· Pre show entertainment begins at 7:15 p.m., and the show starts at 8:00 p.m.
· Seating at the Texas Amphitheatre is stadium style seating for optimal viewing of our stage!
· Wide stairs with railings, and ramps for wheelchairs and scooters make for easy accessibility to all handicapped seating areas.
· Spring evenings can be cool, please come prepared.
· No video taping, flash photography, or cameras with lighted viewfinders are permitted.
· No outside food or beverage are allowed. Concessions are available.
· There are no cash refunds for cancelled performances. If your performance is cancelled due to weather, patrons must keep their original ticket stub from that evening’s performance to exchange at the box office for replacement tickets. If tickets are held at will call, you may call the box office at 254-897-3926 to reschedule your reservation.
· There is a $5.00 per car parking fee at the Texas Amphitheatre.

In March, children will discover how the Lord called the prophet Isaiah. They will learn how missionaries are answering God’s call to go and share His love in Toronto, Canada. Children will promote the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® and the Week of Prayer for missions.
THIS WEEK: NO CIA DUE TO KIDS CHOIR EASTER PRESENTATION. MISSION FRIENDS WILL STILL MEET.

Unit Title: Easter
Key Passage: Romans 6:9
Session Title: The Triumphal Entry
Bible Passage: Matthew 21:1-17; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-44; John 12:12-19
Big Picture Question: How did people act when they saw Jesus? People welcomed Jesus to Jerusalem as their King.
Christ Connection: During Jesus’ triumphal entry, the people welcomed Him as King. Jesus was the Messiah spoken about by the prophet Zechariah: “Look, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9).
This week’s Bible story focuses on The Triumphal Entry (Matthew 21:1-17; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-44; John 12:12-19). The Sunday before Easter is Palm Sunday—the day Jesus entered Jerusalem as the King of kings the week before Passover. Many of God’s people traveled to Jerusalem for Passover. Jesus and His disciples traveled to Jerusalem as well. Near Bethphage (BETH fayj) and Bethany near the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples ahead into a village. Jesus told them, “You will find a young donkey tied there. No one has ever sat on it. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone says to you ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” Jesus was going to fulfill a prophecy by the prophet Zechariah that said, “Look, your King is coming to you, gentle, and mounted on a donkey.” (Zech. 9:9)
Jesus made a spectacular entrance into the city. He rode a donkey, and people laid branches and their robes on the ground in front of Him. The people welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem believed He was the promised Messiah, but they expected Him to overthrow Roman oppression and set up an earthly throne. Jesus sent a different message.
Jesus entered the temple and turned over the tables of the moneychangers and those selling doves. Read Isaiah 56:6-7. Jesus referred to Isaiah, declaring that His kingship would not just be over the Jews but over all people. While Jesus was in the temple, He healed the blind and the lame. Check out the words of Isaiah 35:4-6. Jesus’ actions declared, “I am not just your King; I am also your God.”
Finally, the priests and the scribes heard the children worshiping Jesus as their King. “Do You hear what these children are saying?” they asked. Jesus replied, quoting Psalm 8:2: “Have you never read: You have prepared praise from the mouths of children and nursing infants?” Jesus gladly received their praise because He was worthy of their praise.
As we prepare for and celebrate Easter, help kids connect the dots between God’s promises of a Messiah and Jesus’ coming. Help them understand why Jesus came: to save the world from sin!
Use the following activity with your children to revisit the Bible content for the week. This activity comes from the Family Journal Page:
Conduct a parade through your home. Allow one child to march around while other family members wave their arms and show excitement as he marches by. Read Luke 19:28-44 and remind kids that people welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem as King! Talk about ways that others can see that Jesus is King in your life.
