Hello OCBC family!

First, let me share a passage with you. “The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” He Himself will deliver you from the hunter’s net, from the destructive plague. He will cover you with His feathers; you will take refuge under His wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield” (Psalm 91:1-4 – HCSB).

Maybe you are familiar with the old hymn “Be Not Dismayed Whate’er Betide” but, do you know that it was a child’s comment that prompted this song?

Pastor W. Stillman Martin had been invited to preach in a church that was a few hours away from his home.  His wife became ill that Sunday morning and he was ready to cancel his preaching, but then his young son said to him, “Father, don’t you think that if God wants you to preach today, He will take care of mother while you are away?”  Pastor Martin made the trip and when he came back home, he found out that his wife wrote the lyrics for this hymn in his absence.  In the evening, Pastor Martin composed the music.

This hymn is full of hope and perhaps Mrs. Civilla Martin was thinking of Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God” (NIV 1984).  Sing this hymn, read it, use it as a prayer, it will be a help to your soul.

Be not dismayed whate'er betide,
God will take care of you;
Beneath His wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.

God will take care of you,
Through every day,
O'er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.

Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you.

No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
Lean, weary one upon His breast,
God will take care of you.

In His service,
Israel
