Pastoral Prayer
LORD, from the Depth 1 LORD, from the depths I call to You; Lord, hear me from on high And give attention to my voice when I for mercy cry. 2 LORD in Your presence who can stand, if you our sins record? But yet forgiveness is with You, that we may fear You, LORD. 3 I wait -my soul waits - for the LORD; my hope is in His Word. More than the watchman waits for dawn my soul waits for the Lord. 4 Oh Israel put your hope in God, for mercy is with Him And full Redemption from their sins; His people He’ll redeem. Jesus Shall Reign 1 Jesus shall reign where'er the sun Does its successive journeys run; His kingdom spread from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more. 2 To Him shall endless pray'r be made, And endless praises crown His head; His name like sweet perfume shall rise With ev'ry morning sacrifice. 3 People and realms of ev'ry tongue Dwell on His love with sweetest song, And infant voices shall proclaim Their early blessings on His name. 4 Let ev'ry creature rise and bring Honor and glory to our King; Angels descend with songs again, And earth repeat the loud “Amen”! Whate’er My God Ordains Is Right 1 Whate'er my God ordains is right: His holy will abideth, I will be still whate'er He doth, And follow where He guideth. He is my God though dark my road. He holds me that I shall not fall, And so to Him, I leave it all, he holds me that I shall not fall. 2 Whate'er my God ordains is right: He never will deceive me. He leads me by the proper path; I know He will not leave me. I take, content, what He has sent. His hand can turn my griefs away, And patiently, I wait His day, his hand can turn my grief away. 3 Whate'er my God ordains is right, Though now this cup in drinking May bitter seem to my faint heart, I take it all, unshrinking. My God is true, each morn anew, Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart, And pain and sorrow shall depart, Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart. 4 Whate'er my God ordains is right. Here shall my stand be taken. Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, Yet I am not forsaken. My Father's care is 'round me there. He holds me that I shall not fall, And so to Him, I leave it all, He holds me that I shall not fall. Am I a Soldier of the Cross? 1 Am I a soldier of the cross, A foll'wer of the Lamb? And shall I fear to own His cause, Or blush to speak His name? 4 Sure I must fight if I would reign; Increase my courage, Lord! I'll bear the toil, endure the pain, Supported by Thy Word. Here Is Love 1 Here is love, vast as the ocean, Loving-kindness as the flood; When the Prince of Life, my ransom, Shed for me his precious blood. Who his love will not remember? Who can cease to sing his praise? He shall never be forgotten, Through Heav’n’s everlasting days 2 On the mount of crucifixion, Fountains opened deep and wide, Through the flood-gates of God’s mercy, Flowed the vast and gracious tide; Grace and love, like mighty rivers Poured incessant from above, Heaven’s peace and perfect justice Kissed a guilty world in love. 3 Let me all your love accepting, Love you, ever all my days; Let me seek your kingdom only And my life be to your praise; You alone will be my glory, Nothing in the world I see; You have cleansed and sanctified me, You Yourself have set me free. 4 In your truth you will direct me By your Spirit, thru' your Word; And your grace my need is meeting, As I trust in you, my Lord. Of your fulness you are pouring Your great love and power on me, Without measure, full and boundless Drawing out my heart to Thee. Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
In Your Presence (Psalm 84) 1 Lord, I dearly love Your presence more than words can ever tell; how I yearn to see the beauty of the courts in which You dwell. Even sparrows there find refuge; there the swallow rears her young; what a joy to have a home there, where unending praise is sung. 2 Happy are the pilgrim people pressing on to greater things, finding water in the wasteland, making it a place of springs; on they go with mounting vigor till they stand before Your throne; God of Jacob, guard Your servants; make Your lasting kindness known. 3 In the hearts of all the faithful, grace and glory are revealed-- lavish gifts You give so freely, mighty Lord, our Sun and Shield. Better humble, godly service than a home where sin holds sway; better one day in Your presence than a thousand far away. Facing a Task Unfinished 1 Facing a task unfinished, That drives us to our knees, A need that, undiminished, Rebukes our slothful ease. We, who rejoice to know Thee, Renew before Thy throne The solemn pledge we owe Thee- To go and make You known. 2 Where other lords beside Thee Hold their unhindered sway; Where forces that defied Thee Defy Thee still today. With none to heed their crying For life, and love, and light, Unnumbered souls are dying And pass into the night. Refrain: We go to all the world, With kingdom hope unfurled. No other name has power to save But Jesus Christ, the Lord. 3 We bear the torch that flaming, Fell from the hands of those Who gave their lives proclaiming That Jesus died and rose. Ours is the same commission, The same glad message ours; Fired by the same ambition, To You we yield our powers. 4 O Father who sustained them, O Spirit who inspired, Savior, whose love constrained them To toil with zeal untired, From cowardice defend us, From lethargy awake! Forth on Thine errands send us To labor for Thy sake. I Need Thee Every Hour 4 I need Thee ev'ry hour, Teach me Thy will; Thy promises so rich In me fulfill. Refrain: I need Thee, O I need Thee; Ev'ry hour I need Thee! O bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee. 5 I need Thee ev'ry hour, Most Holy One; O make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son. He Will Hold Me Fast 1 When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast; When the tempter would prevail, He will hold me fast. I could never keep my hold Through life’s fearful path; For my love is often cold; He must hold me fast. Refrain: He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast; For my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast. 2 Those He saves are His delight, Christ will hold me fast; Precious in His holy sight, He will hold me fast. He’ll not let my soul be lost; His promises shall last; Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast. 3 For my life He bled and died, Christ will hold me fast; Justice has been satisfied; He will hold me fast. Raised with Him to endless life, He will hold me fast ‘Til our faith is turned to sight, When He comes at last! Oh, How I Love Jesus 1 There is a name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth; It sounds as music in my ear, The sweetest name on earth. Refrain: Oh, how I love Jesus, Oh, how I love Jesus, Oh, how I love Jesus, Because He first loved me.
Pastoral Prayer
Sing a New Song to Jehovah 1 Sing a new song to Jehovah for the wonders He hath wrought; His right hand and arm most holy triumph to His cause have brought. In His love and tender mercy He hath made salvation known, in the sight of every nation He His righteousness hath shown. 2 Truth and mercy toward His people He has ever kept in mind, and His full and free salvation He hath shown to all mankind. Sing, O earth, sing to Jehovah, praises to Jehovah sing; with the swelling notes of music shout before the LORD, the King. 3 Seas with all your fullness thunder, all earth's peoples now rejoice; floods and hills in praise uniting, to the LORD lift up your voice. For, behold, Jehovah cometh, robed in justice and in might; He alone will judge the nations, and His judgment shall be right. Soldiers of Christ, Arise 1 Soldiers of Christ, arise And put your armor on, Strong in the strength which God supplies Thro' His eternal Son; Strong in the Lord of hosts And in His mighty power, Who in the strength of Jesus trusts Is more than conqueror. 2 Stand then in His great might, With all His strength endued, And take, to arm you for the fight, The panoply of God. From strength to strength go on And wrestle, fight and pray; Tread all the powers of darkness down And win the well fought day. 3 Leave no unguarded place, No weakness of the soul; Take ev'ry virtue, ev'ry grace, And fortify the whole; That having all things done, And all your conflicts past, Ye may overcome thro' Christ alone And stand complete at last. I Asked the Lord That I Might Grow 1 I asked the Lord that I might grow in faith and love and every grace; might more of His salvation know, and seek more earnestly His face. 2 'Twas He who taught me thus to pray, and He, I trust, has answered prayer, but it has been in such a way as almost drove me to despair. 3 I hoped that in some favored hour at once He's answer my request, and by His love's constraining pow'r subdue my sins and give me rest. 4 Instead of this He made me feel the hidden evils of my heart, and let the angry pow'rs of hell assault my soul in every part. 5 Yea more, with His own hand He seemed intent to aggravate me woe, crossed all the fair designs I schemed, humbled my heart, and laid me low. 6 "Lord, why is this?" I trembling cried, "Wilt Thou pursue Thy worm to death?" "'Tis in this way," the Lord replied, "I answer prayer for grace and faith. 7 "These inward trials I employ from self and pride to set thee free, and break thy schemes of earthly joy that thou may'st find Thy all in Me." Abide with Me 3 I need Thy presence every passing hour; what but Thy grace can foil the tempter's pow'r? Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me. 4 I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless; ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness. Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still if Thou abide with me. May the Mind of Christ, My Savior 1 May the mind of Christ, my Savior, live in me from day to day, by His love and pow'r controlling all I do and say. 2 May the word of God dwell richly in my heart from hour to hour, so that all may see I triumph only through His pow'r. 3 May the peace of God my Father rule my life in everything, that I may be calm to comfort sick and sorrowing. 4 May the love of Jesus fill me as the waters fill the sea; Him exalting, self abasing: this is victory. 5 May I run the race before me, strong and brave to face the foe, looking only unto Jesus as I onward go. 6 May His beauty rest upon me as I seek the lost to win, and may they forget the channel, seeing only Him. We Will Glorify Hallelujah to the King of Kings, Hallelujah to the Lamb! Hallelujah to the Lord of Lords Who is the great I AM!
Pastoral Prayer
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise 1 Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise. 2 Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might; Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love. 3 To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small; In all life Thou livest, the true life of all; We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, And wither and perish– but naught changeth Thee. 4 Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight; All praise we would render; O help us to see 'Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee! Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder 1 Let us love and sing and wonder, Let us praise the Savior's name! He has hushed the law's loud thunder, He has quenched Mount Sinai's flame; He has washed us with His blood, He has brought us nigh to God. 2 Let us love the Lord who bought us, Pitied us when enemies, Called us by His grace, and taught us, Gave us ears and gave us eyes: He has washed us with His blood, He presents our souls to God. 3 Let us sing, though fierce temptation Threaten hard to bear us down! For the Lord, our strong salvation, Holds in view the conqu'ror's crown; He who washed us with His blood, Soon will bring us home to God. 4 Let us wonder! Grace and justice Join, and point to mercy's store; When through grace in Christ our trust is, Justice smiles, and asks no more: He who washed us with His blood, Has secured our way to God. 5 Let us praise, and join the chorus Of the saints enthroned on high; Here they trusted Him before us, Now their praises fill the sky: "You have washed us with Your blood; You are worthy, Lamb of God!" Gaze on the Christ 1 Behold the Lamb, the spotless Lamb, Who takes away our sin; The debt we faced was not erased, But paid in full by Him. Refrain: Gaze on the Christ, our sacrifice On altar made of wood. Exalt the Lamb, the worthy Lamb, Who bought us with His blood. 2 Behold the Lamb, the bleeding Lamb, Who takes away the veil; His body torn, His soul forlorn, Christ cut to God a trail. 3 Behold the Lamb, the dying Lamb, Who takes away just wrath; God saw the blood of His beloved And over us has passed. 4 Behold the Lamb, the risen Lamb, Who takes away death’s sting; All knees shall bend, all praise ascend To Christ, the living King. Ancient Words 1 Holy words long preserved For our walk in this world, They resound with God's own heart; O let the ancient words impart. Words of life, words of hope Give us strength, help us cope; In this world where'er we roam Ancient words will guide us home. Refrain: Ancient words ever true, Changing me changing you; We have come with open hearts, O let the ancient words impart. 2 Holy words of our faith Handed down to this age, Came to us through sacrifice; O heed the faithful words of Christ. Martyr's blood stains each page They have died for this faith Hear them cry through the years Heed these words and hold them dear. God of Grace 1 God of grace, amazing wonder, irresistible and free; oh, the miracle of mercy, Jesus reaches down to me. God of grace, I stand in wonder, as my God restores my soul. His own blood has paid my ransom; awesome cost to make me whole 2 God of grace, who loved and knew me long before the world began; sent my Savior down from heaven perfect God and perfect man. God of grace, I trust in Jesus; I'm accepted as His own. Every day His grace sustains me, as I lean on Him alone. 3 God of grace, I stand astounded, cleansed, forgiven, and secure. All my fears are now confounded, and my hope is ever sure. God of grace, now crowned in glory, where one day I'll see Your face; and forever I'll adore You in Your everlasting grace. When We All Get to Heaven 1 Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed, He'll prepare for us a place. Refrain: When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We'll sing and shout the victory.
Pastoral Prayer
Come Praise and Glorify 1 Come praise and glorify our God, The Father of our Lord. In Christ He has, in heavenly realms, His blessings on us poured. For pure and blameless in His sight He destined us to be, And now we’ve been adopted through His Son eternally. Refrain: To the praise of Your glory, to the praise of Your mercy and grace, To the praise of Your glory: You are the God Who saves! 2 Come praise and glorify our God, Who gives His grace in Christ. In Him our sins are washed away, Redeemed through sacrifice. In Him God has made known to us The mystery of His will: That Christ should be the Head of all, His purpose to fulfill. 3 Come praise and glorify our God, For we’ve believed the Word; And through our faith we have a seal: The Spirit of the Lord. The Spirit guarantees our hope Until redemption’s done, Until we join in endless praise To God, the Three in One! I Love to Tell the Story 1 I love to tell the story Of unseen things above, Of Jesus and His glory, Of Jesus and His love: I love to tell the story Because I know 'tis true; It satisfies my longings As nothing else can do. Refrain: I love to tell the story, 'Twill be my theme in glory To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love. 2 I love to tell the story; 'Tis pleasant to repeat What seems each time I tell it, More wonderfully sweet: I love to tell the story, For some have never heard The message of salvation From God's own holy Word. 3 I love to tell the story; For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting To hear it, like the rest: And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song, 'Twill be the old, old story That I have loved so long. O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus 1 O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free! Rolling as a mighty ocean In its fullness over me. Underneath me, all around me, Is the current of Thy love; Leading onward, leading home-ward, To my glorious rest above. 2 O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Spread His praise from shore to shore! How He loveth, ever loveth, Changeth never, nevermore. How He watches o'er His loved ones, Died to call them all His own; How for them He intercedeth, Watcheth o'er them from the throne! 3 O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Love of ev'ry love the best! 'Tis an ocean vast of blessing, 'Tis a haven sweet of rest. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, 'Tis a heav'n of heav'ns to me; And it lifts me up to glory, For it lifts me up to Thee. In the Cross of Christ I Glory 1 In the cross of Christ I glory, Tow'ring o'er the wrecks of time; All the light of sacred story Gathers round its head sublime. 2 When the woes of life o'ertake me, Hopes deceive and fears annoy; Never shall the cross forsake me: Lo! it glows with peace and joy. 3 When the sun of bliss is beaming Light and love upon my way, From the cross the radiance streaming Adds new luster to the day. 4 Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure, By the cross are sanctified; Peace is there that knows no measure, Joys that through all time abide. Jesus Paid It All 1 I hear the Savior say, "Thy strength indeed is small, Child of weakness, watch and pray, Find in Me thine all in all." Refrain: Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. 2 Lord, now indeed I find Thy power, and Thine alone Can change the leper's spots And melt the heart of stone. 3 For nothing good have I Whereby Thy grace to claim; I'll wash my garments white In the blood of Calv'ry's Lamb. 4 And when, before the throne, I stand in Him complete, "Jesus died my soul to save," My lips shall still repeat. |
